General NewsSomerset NCS Jobs – Summer 2017
SRYP has a number of vacancies for the summer National Citizen Service programme, to suit different levels of youth work experience. NCS is a four week programme, taking year 11s and 12s through a week long adventure residential (Exmoor), a week long skills development residential (Taunton) and then two weeks of running their own social action projects at various locations around Somerset. There are 6 different start dates across the summer, so jobs can be arranged to suit. Vacancies include Wave Leaders – Responsible for overseeing a wave of 105 young people and implementing the pre-planned programme (£1750 per programme) Team Leaders – Responsible for leading a team of 15 young people (£1,350 per programme) Team Workers – Responsible for supporting the team leader with a team of 15 young people (£1,065) per programme) Full training for the programme will be delivered throughout the Spring. British Youth Council SurveyBYC are conducting a survey to find out what young people of all ages think about their communities; whether or not they feel European; about stereotyping, bullying and hate crime; and the skills they have / need as young people today.
Their views will contribute to the UK's response and contribution to the next Structured Dialogue conference in Slovakia, where the BYC will be working with y oung people and decision makers from across the EU to create recommendations.
