Short qualifications available for people working with young people, or children?

Level 1 Accredited Youth Work Course.

The Volunteer Network based in Somerset is running a 2 day course for volunteers and professionals to learn about the basics in Youth work, as an aide to the work you currently are involved in.

What the course entails: Day 1 is based in theory and day 2 is based in carrying out what you have learnt. You then go away and practise what you have learnt and complete the course paperwork online, showing that you can put the theory into your practical work.

Where is it held: The Secret Meeting Rooms, Glastonbury, Somerset BA6 8BS.

Dates: 28th and the 29th October 2017. Time:  9.00am until 5pm, with a break for lunch.

Price: Fully accredited course per person is £84 (broken down £48 course costs and £36 accreditation fees).
Non accredited course: If you just want the training and a certificate of attendance, but not the accreditation then this will only cost £48.00. This option is available to 16 to 18 year olds who are acting in roles of responsibility at your groups.

How to book your place: Go to this link to find out more http://www.somersetyouth.org.uk/youth-work-training.html and complete the booking form.

Course blurb: It's a Level 1 Accredited Youth Work Award, which introduces you to the principles and safety of working with children and young people.
It's going to be an intensive and interactive mix of theory and practical learning. We will be looking at a the range of what you and the other participants offer in your organisations, clubs and community groups, and show how it fits into to the legislation and practise around working with 'children and young people'.

To complete the course you then return to your group or organisation and put into practise the theory and good practise that you have learnt. Completion of the course is by online coursework (because we like to embrace the modern world of media!) with submission of  examples of your practise.
In total this should be completed and submitted within one month of you starting the course. Dah-nah and you are then qualified at level 1!
