It is the responsibility of Somerset County Council to display information and services in one place on a website that will benefit the community including those aged 0-25 years with Special Educational Needs and/or disability. 
 
The local offer is, ‘what is on offer locally’. The website has been co-produced by multi-agency partners including young people, parent carers, education, health and social care. The website is kept under review and is continuously developing to become better.
 
Currently Somerset County Council’s Local Offer is displayed on the Somerset Choices website. www.somersetchoices.org.uk
 
There is no cost to register on the website and it will offer you free advertising for your service and an events page where you can promote fundraising days etc. or any other events open to the public.
 
Please register your organisation and services onto Somerset Choices to enable the community to find the right service, in the right place, at the right time.
 
We are happy to offer any help you may need when registering so if any obstacle should arise please contact us at SENDreforms@somerset.gov.uk and we will be happy to assist you.
 
Once you have registered and logged on please go back into your site using your log on details and check your entry is still correct at least twice a year or your record will auto archive.
 
This is to make sure the maintenance of the website is kept up to date.

EMERGENCY FIRST AID AT WORK

12th DECEMBER 2017 - FROME.

This one-day course will help you meet your regulatory requirements if your risk assessment indicates that first aid training covering emergency protocols only, is sufficient for your workplace. This course is designed for people who want to receive training in emergency first aid and is especially suited for nominated first aiders in smaller, low risk working environments.

South Somerset - Community Grants

Examples of eligible projects include:
-Cost of hiring a room/pitch or equipment to help start new activities.
-Booking a coach or activity leader to help increase use of local facilities.
-Helping to subsidise the cost of transport to get an idea moving.
-Training for volunteers to make a difference in the community.

Match funding of at least 50% is required.
Applicants are expected to have the support of their Parish Council which may include a financial contribution, and other sources of funding are expected to have been considered.

​Somerset Crimebeat Trust

Grants of up to £1,500 are available.

The Somerset Crimebeat Trust offers funding to local voluntary organisations, community groups and other not-for-profit organisations that are based and working with young people in Somerset, Bath and North East Somerset and North Somerset.

The grants are intended to provide clear opportunities for young people to combat crime and the causes of crime in their own community or reduce the risk of crime.
The Somerset Community Foundation and Quartet Community Foundation currently administer the Trust, which remains an independent charity.

Local voluntary, community and social enterprise sector organisations can apply. This includes unincorporated associations, registered and unregistered charities, community interest companies, cooperatives, and industrial and provident societies (also known as registered societies).

Trainee Residential Youth Worker

We are recruiting 8 Supportive individuals to join our team to work in Childrens Residential Care Homes, Educational Settings and Independent Living Accommodations in Taunton and surrounding areas.

British Youth Council Survey

​BYC are conducting a survey to find out what young people of all ages think about their communities; whether or not they feel European; about stereotyping, bullying and hate crime; and the skills they have / need as young people today.

Their views will contribute to the UK's response and contribution to the next ‪Structured Dialogue‬ conference in Slovakia, where the BYC will be working with y   oung people and decision makers from across the EU to create recommendations.

All young people taking part will be in with a chance of winning a £40 voucher.
